Jazzgroove Summer Festival 2012

Third annual festival 13-15 January 2012

From humble beginnings in 2010 the Jazzgroove Association is establishing the 2nd weekend in January as an integral part of the Sydney Summer cultural calendar. With nightly programming, the festival also includes a free workshops and kids program at the Redfern Town Hall. In 2012, the festival includes for the first time an opening night Q&A to take place at the Old 505 Theatre with members of the jazz community debating ‘The Sydney Sound’.

Inaugural JARA Award

The newly formed JARA Award is also part of the festival. Eastside Radio and Jazzgroove have collaborated to create this award for an emerging or existing composer/performer. The award recipient will receive a recording and promotions package to the value of $10,000 for the creation and presentation of new work to be released through Jazzgroove Records and broadcast on Eastside Radio. The four finalists for the award will play at the Jazzgroove Summer festival.
