Meet the local food and wine vendors, join the music workshops and the performer’s street parade
Bringing together locals and visitors for its third year, theMarysville Jazz and Blues Weekendwill come alive on Friday 20 October – Sunday 22 October.The award-winning festival is set to celebrate music, food, wine, and community.

Programming highlights for this years festival include Russell Morris, Geoff Achison & the Soul Diggers, Lloyd Spiegel, Mike Ruddand his band Spectrum, The Tracey Roberts Quartet, Anita Harris, Mama Alto, Shirazz, Eva To Diva, Bo Jenkins, young gun Charlie Bedford and many more.
WORKSHOPS
Across the weekend on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22, the three-day, weekend or daily Saturday and Sunday ticket holders will have access to 1-hour workshops with blues guitar legends Geoff Achison an Bo Jenkins who will be teaching the ins and outs of the Blues Guitar.
As an accomplished pianist with a reputation as performer, arranger, and accompanist for jazz ensembles and with vocalists,Miss Chief(Mama Alto) will enthral with an Interpreting Jazz Standards workshop demonstrating how to craft your own interpretations and unique versions of jazz standards.
Jackson Four will be teaching how to impress audiences with a lesson in Stage Craft & Stage Presentation, and for those with no musical experience, Shirazz will teachTrad Jazz Collective Improvisation. And, just when you thought the workshops couldn’t get any better, Patrick Evans from Maton will be presenting the final workshop of the weekend “The story behind the new Maton Guitars Blackwood Series” discussing the development and processes involved in making of the guitar and the tonal qualities of the Blackwood timber they use that is grown in Marysville.
PERFORMERS STREET PARADE
At midday on Saturday join the festival performers and locals on Murchison Street for a colourful performance of local expressions. Expect a succession of MG and other class cars along with the festival performers, and maybe even brass band section, and brightly coloured hats and banners.
TRANSPORT & SHUTTLE BUSES
Whilst the festival venues are a short walk from each other; a free courtesy bus will operate across the wider Marysville & Surrounding Triangle run (Marysville, Narbethong, Buxton) Saturday morning and late Saturday evening.
Another service will also operate from Marysville to the Black Spur Inn Narbethong Saturday during the 5.30pm to the7.30pm meal break, should visitors wish to enjoy a pub meal, allowing visitors to return to Marysville for the evening session.
Both bus services will pick up from the bus stop located outside Marysville Country Bakery.
FOOD, WINE AND LOCAL RETAILERS
A quaint, compact town, Marysville offers a variety of shops including a bakery, cafes, chocolate and lolly shops, gift stores and restaurants and wine bars, showcasing the local trout and salmon, boutique beers, ciders and wines on their menus. Full meals and snacks will be available in Marysville from the Vibe Hotel (Restaurant and Caf), The Duck Inn, Country Bakery, Terracotta Restaurant (Golf Club), Elevation 423 Bar & Cafe, Fragas Cafe, in Narbethong Black Spur Inn,Salad inLodge, and in Buxton the Buxton Hoteland many more.

ABOUT MARYSVILLE JAZZ AND BLUES WEEKEND
What was initially the idea of a local Marysville resident Peter Guest, the first Jazz and Blues Weekend event was established in 2015 with the help of the community. Since then, the 2016 and 2017 events are organised by a small and dedicated hard working community committee assisted by local volunteers, which lead to the Murrindindi Shire and Victorian Government awarding theMarysville Jazz and Blues Weekend“Best Community Event Of The Year” in 2015 and 2016.
