Who is Leigh Collins

Leigh Collins is a guitarist and composer based on the Mornington Peninsula outside of Melbourne, Australia. His music is characterised by his thoughtful approach to melody and harmony, portrayed through a refined touch on the instrument that reflects his love of classic electric guitar tones. Leigh’s dedication to the instrument has seen him achieve a Masters of Music from The University of Melbourne. In 2018, Leigh had the opportunity to perform at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival as a member of contemporary jazz ensemble Prickly Pear.

In September 2019, Leigh released his debut album, Here’s Why, recorded live at Sing Sing East alongside Lawson Kennard (bass) and Daniel McKoy (drums). The album consists of original instrumental compositions drawing inspiration from jazz harmony and folk melodies, underpinned by blues articulations and phrasing.
