MWIJF launches LUMINA award

The Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival and The University of Melbourne are proud to announce the inaugural LUMINA Composition Award.

This award is open to female and non-binary identifying musicians aged 25 and under, as at 1st December 2024. Applicants must be Victorian residents.

The award invites eligible musicians to submit a composition written in the spirit of jazz and improvisation. Compositions must be in Lead sheet / score and recording format. The prize consists of $1,250 and a performance opportunity at the 2025 MWIJF.

The deadline for submissions is 1st December, 5pm AEST. Entries can be submitted here.

The winner will be judged by a panel comprising Andrea Keller, Gian Slater, Angela Davis and Sonja Horbelt, and announced on Sunday 15th December at the closing night of the MWIJF,
