ABC Jazz programming changes recently announced
In online and on-air announcements of recent changes to jazz programming at the ABC, there’s been a notable absence of any mention of Jazz Up Late, the Friday night program hosted by Gerry Koster. Jazz Up Late was introduced in 2006 to complement the programming on the ABC’s long-running jazz program Jazztrack and currently goes to air on ABC Jazz and Classic FM on Friday nights from 10:30 pm and repeats on ABC Jazz at 9:00pm on Mondays.
According to our sources the Jazz Up Late program with Gerry Koster will go to air for the last time on January 16 on ABC Classic FM. After this date, the program will be cut from the ABC network. We have no news about what will happen to the popular ‘My Favourite Things’ interviews produced by Koster for ABC Jazz, but hopefully they will remain available as valuable documentation of music and its makers.
Jazztrack with Mal Stanley will no longer be broadcast on ABC Classic FM in 2015. After January 18, Jazztrack will be heard on ABC Jazz Digital, online and on digital TV channel 201 in its usual timeslot. From 31 January it will also be broadcast on Radio National from 11.05pm Saturdays and Sundays.
