In these short interviews I ask musicians and composers, from various backgrounds, the same three simple questions about music.
- Why do you have music in your life?
- How do you make music?
- What excites you musically right now?
I will be presenting these once a week over the next few months with local, national and international musicians and composers.
In this episode I’m talking to Melbourne – based award-winning composer, musician and academic Johannes Luebbers.
Winner of the 2011 Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year at the Australian Jazz Bell Awards and the 2011 Jazz Work of the Year at the APRA/AMC Art Music Awards, Johannes Luebbers has emerged as one of Australias most interesting young composers. Graduating from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2006, Johannes studied arranging and piano and was awarded the Bob Wylie Scholarship for the most outstanding graduate. Johannes’ main creative output has been his 10-piece, Johannes Luebbers Dectet (JLD) who have released three albums to critical acclaim.
