It’s great to hear Dave and Sean playing so well with such a good NY rhythm section. The music is very impressive in the best way… it’s another step up for Australian jazz.  – Mike Nock

Dave Jackson is an alto saxophonist based in Sydney. During a 3 month stint studying in NY and Boston, Dave spent half a day in the studio with some world class musicians adn teh result is his first release under his own name – Cosmontology

The music is a snapshot of Dave’s musical intention as an improviser and composer. His focus is always melody and this is obvious in the music. The compositions are quite open leaving plenty of room for interaction which is also evident here.

The recording features’ Australia’s own Sean Wayland along with locals Orlando Le Fleming and Greg Hutchinson. The music is all original except for D-Day which is a tune by seminal Australian alto saxophonist and composer Bernie McGann.
