There have been changes to the submission process for the 2016 Bell Awards. To be considered for submission in 2016 you must be a member of the Australian Jazz Academy or have a member of the Academy endorse your project.
The roster does real justice to the ‘international’ part of its title, as it features musicians from four continents: Europe, Africa, Asia and, of course, our own little corner of the world.
“I would describe it as heart music. There is much complexity in the harmonic and rhythmic structures, however the intention behind any compositional or arranging decision is first and foremost about evoking an emotional response for myself and in the process hopefully the listener. The music is visual and visceral, it’s about dancing and embracing the heavy groove of living.”
