Rick Webster Live - coverAfter releasing 2 successful EP’s, International Award Winning Guitarist/Songwriter Rick Webster has announced his first full length album Live at the Ellington Featuring Allira Wilson  released November 1st 2014.

Recorded live in concert at the Ellington Jazz Club Perth, Live at the Ellington  was a concept created by Rick to capture the energy of his live show combined with his unique undeniable songwriting abilities described as “pure class” (Chris Gibbs X-Press Magazine).

An in demand session guitarist for over 10 years playing everything from festivals such as Day on the Green with the Perth Symphony Orchestra to ARIA winning children’s entertainer Peter Combe, Rick decided in 2011 to start his own musical journey. “I wanted to create catchy songs that you might hear on the radio, but combine them with more complex musical ideas that I had been hearing.” The result was Rick’s first 2 EPs, which received international, acclaim taking out categories in the John Lennon Songwriting Awards, the USA songwriting Competition and countless more. It was then that he decided to take on the task of capturing the sound of the band’s live show.

Live at the Ellington features some of Perth’s best musicians including recent Jazz Bell award winning vocalist Allira Wilson and guest stars USA saxophone giant Troy Roberts. “I was lucky enough to be working with these amazing musicians. We had been playing a lot of shows and the energy of the band was really inspiring me to write songs that crafted a fun and captivating journey for the audience. Being able to record the album completely live meant it was very spontaneous and intimate, it was an absolute blast.”

The result is an album of 10 songs, which capture a wide variety of moods. From the driving blues/Motown style number ‘Don’t you remember’ to more delicate precise songs about lost love such as ‘Leave me with the light on’ and ‘Back to you’. With a sound that’s been compared to everyone from Adele to Steely Dan and Norah Jones, the album has already received rave reviews and is creating a stir in the Australian music scene with tour dates for 2015 currently in the works nation wide.
